UNPRECEDENTED MEDICAL EVACUATION PROTECTION NOW AVAILABLE SHORT TERM IN ADDITION TO YEARLY MEMBERSHIPS

Birmingham, AL (April 12, 2004):- MedjetAssist’s unprecedented evacuation protection is now available for short-term trips, in addition to annual memberships. MedjetAssist is America’s leader in evacuation protection – guaranteeing members of their program who become hospitalized more than 150 miles from home, that they will be flown back home in a medically dedicated and staffed jet and taken to the hospital of their choice.

MedjetAssist’s short term plans are available for 7-, 14- and 21-days. The 7-day plan is priced at $75 per person ($140 per family); 14-days: $95 ($175 per family) and 21-days: $120 ($220 per family). Annual memberships are $205 per person, and $325 per family.

“Many people assume their gold or platinum credit cards include this kind of protection, and they usually do not,” says Roy Berger, MedjetAssist President. “Most often, cards will guarantee evacuation to the nearest hospital, but won’t cover the cost of flying you home – which, if it’s from a distant part of the world, can cost as much as $100,000.”

GREAT FOR CRUISERS
“The short-term memberships are particularly attractive for cruise passengers,” says Phillip Morris, MedjetAssist’s Executive Vice-President, “as the obligatory coverage supplied by cruise lines only covers emergency evacuation, but does not fly the injured person home; and it’s getting sick people home that is the key to what MedjetAssist offers.”

“Another mistake people make,” Berger added, “is that they consider evacuation protection for a major overseas trip - to Africa or Asia – but don’t think about it if they’re visiting family in another state.” Fully 80% of the evacuations carried out each year by MedjetAssist are for members hospitalized during a visit to family or friends not that far from home. “That’s why the annual membership makes so much sense,” Berger commented.
