MedjetAssist Transports Vacationing Cincinnati Woman
Safely Home for Emergency Surgery |
|
On Wednesday, October 4, 2000, 60-year-old Norien Gettys and her husband, John, were touring sugar cane fields on the island of Kauai in Hawaii when she had an ATV accident. The accident shattered her knee, requiring orthopedic surgery. Most travelers would have been treated there on the island, but thanks to her MedjetAssist membership, Norien had the option of being treated at the hospital of her choice. She chose to have her surgery at home in Cincinnati, close to her family and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Gettys were picked up Friday by MEDJET's state-of-the-art, medically equipped aircraft, and were accompanied by a team of medical attendants to Cincinnati International Airport, where she was moved by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital. Her surgery took place Monday morning in Cincinnati, and she is recovering. Ms. Gettys is expected to be released in a couple of days. Usually a private air ambulance would have cost the Gettys $39,000 for this type of service, but their annual fee of $325 covered every expense of the cross-country flight. "I am completely thrilled with the service I received from MedjetAssist. I can't stop talking about the great care I received," says Gettys. "I've been busy spreading the good word, and I'm sure I'll be busy passing out membership brochures." Perfect for anyone that frequently travels
for business or pleasure, MedjetAssist is a worldwide air medical
evacuation service, which transports members to the hospital of their
choice in times of medical need. The transport service is available anytime
the member is more than 150 miles away from home, and covers both domestic
and international travel, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All of this
is available for a minimal annual fee: $205 for individuals and $325 for
a family. |
